2023 Scholarship for Louisiana Students
Even when we aren’t aware of it, labor and employment laws affect many aspects of our lives. For example, most hourly workers get paid overtime for working more than 40 hours in a week thanks to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Other state and federal laws – such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act – protect us from certain types of workplace discrimination and harassment.
It can be easy to take these laws for granted, especially when things are going well at your job. As employment lawyers, however, we know how important these laws become when a person is treated unfairly by their employer. If a person is unaware of their rights as a worker, it can be hard to advocate for yourself – or even know when your boss has done something illegal.
We strongly believe that everyone should know their basic labor and employment rights. To encourage young people to learn more about employment law – and to help with the skyrocketing costs of education – our law firm has established a scholarship to benefit Louisiana students.
We are pleased to announce the 2023 Robert B. Landry III, PLC Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Louisiana student who is or will be attending a college, university, or trade school in 2023. Through this scholarship, we hope to inspire young people to understand more about labor and employment laws in our country – and to help one deserving student pay for their education.
